Here is a little project I just completed last week. A friend of mine added a booth to his kitchen. I agreed to do the table for the booth. He gave me the freedom to experiement a bit with the colors in his kitchen. He wanted to bring the colors of the wall, existing counters and the cabinets into the top of the table. Here it is! Jesse has installed a beer tap in the wall since we installed. Hope he loves the table.

Well it’s been a busy couple of months at H2 Concrete Design and its time to catch up. I took on a project for my church, Mountain Vineyard in Kent, WA. They are constructing a new building and I offered to do some countertops for them. I looked at the project and determined that I could provide two bathroom vanities and one long counter in the Fellowship Hall. We did sample colors to try to come up with a gray color that would complement the Formica partition panels to be used in the bathrooms.

I decided this would be a good opportunity to try my hand at fabric formed sinks. I designed two sink molds in the shape of aspen leaves to use for the sink bowls. Once I had the molds completed I poured two test vanity tops to make sure the molds would release properly. Once I nailed down the dimensions for the tops I built molds
and then cast the vanity tops with Integral sinks.

Custom Leaf Sink Vanity

Once the vanity tops were completed I focused on the fellowship hall counter. Once I got the dimensions from the cabinet maker I started constructing molds. The counter was over 18 feet long and my casting tables are only 12 feet so I decided to seam the counter in the middle. This would yield two workable pieces each with an under mount sink.

I was scheduled to leave town in a couple of weeks so this compressed my schedule to deliver the counters since the building completion date was about one week after I would return. In order for the plumber to complete his work I needed to fabricate the mold, pour and finish the counters in about 2 weeks. I built the molds one week and completed on the weekend once I had final cabinet dimensions.

I arranged for two of my Grandsons, Sabin and Dylan to help me the following Saturday to pour the counters. It was their first experience working with me in the shop to pour concrete.

We poured the counters on Saturday. I unmolded the counters and flipped on Monday evening. I was able to use my new Buddy Rhodes polisher to dry process these counters during the week. I sealed them with ITC sealer from BlueConcrete.com on Saturday. Sunday morning I packed them up and met my crew that afternoon to install.

Here are some photos of the final installed vanities and counters.
